I went freelance by accident, when a magazine editing job I moved home for failed to materialize. I figured freelance writing was a bridge to a full-time job. Instead, I lucked into my calling. I love research and reporting, I love talking with people and learning about their lives and work, and most of all, I love telling stories.

I write about outdoor sports, health and fitness, and science and technology, for consumer publications and commercial clients. I work across platforms from print to podcast, blog to video. I contributed to two Bicycling feature packages that were National Magazine Award finalists. I’ve done on-camera work and media appearances with outlets like NPR and ESPN, wrote chapters for The Noblest Invention (Rodale Press), and formerly taught a magazine writing class for the University of Colorado’s Continuing Education division.
